Beauty distribution · Mexico

Your beauty distributor in Mexico

We take international beauty and personal-care brands from abroad to the Mexican shelf: customs, COFEPRIS health notice, NOM-141 labeling and placement in the right retail chains. We act as importer of record — you don't need a Mexican entity — and we know the category, we don't distribute everything.

The opportunity

One of Latin America's largest beauty markets

Mexico is a large, fast-growing beauty market with an audience that already searches for international brands and Korean skincare by name. But entering from abroad means three things most founders underestimate: customs, health-regulatory compliance for a formula built for another market, and Spanish labeling that almost never ships ready for Mexico. Get one wrong and a launch slips by months. Azkami runs all three end to end — and as importer of record, we carry the legal and sanitary responsibility so you don't have to open a company here.

The process

From your catalog to the shelf, end to end

Stage 1

Assessment & classification

We review your catalog, formula and INCI ingredients against Mexico's permitted and restricted lists, confirm HS tariff classification, and model price against duties, VAT and the retailer's margin — so we know what enters cleanly and what needs adjusting before you commit.

Stage 2

Importer of record

We import under our own name. You don't need a Mexican entity or to join the importers' registry: we take on the importer role and the sanitary responsibility for the product.

Stage 3

COFEPRIS & NOM-141

Cosmetics in Mexico run on a health notice with COFEPRIS, not a pre-market registration. We handle it in advance, off the shipment's critical path, and adapt labeling to NOM-141: INCI ingredients, net content, batch, importer/responsible party, country of origin and warnings, in Spanish.

Stage 4

Customs & logistics

With a customs broker we handle the pedimento, duties and clearance —typically about 10 days— and receive into our warehouse, with inventory control and nationwide distribution.

Stage 5

Retail placement & sell-through

We negotiate entry with each chain's buyers —assortment, price, planogram— activate at point of sale, and track sell-out to restock what moves. On shelf isn't the goal; selling through is.

With the health notice handled ahead of time, operational timelines are tight: customs clearance runs about 10 days and label adaptation about a week by volume. As commercial reference: we placed Korean skincare brands in Sephora Mexico in about 4 months, and took one brand to 584 points of sale nationwide in a year.

FAQ

Selling your beauty brand in Mexico

Do I need a legal entity in Mexico?

No. Azkami acts as importer of record: we import under our name and answer to the authorities, so you don't need to set up a company in Mexico or join the importers' registry.

Do cosmetics need a health registration in Mexico?

Cosmetics follow a health notice (aviso) with COFEPRIS, not a pre-market registration like medicines. They must still comply with regulation and NOM-141 labeling to be sold.

How long does it take to enter Mexican retail?

With the health notice handled in advance, customs clearance runs about 10 days and label adaptation about a week. We placed Sungboon Editor and Dr. Althea in Sephora Mexico in about 4 months.

Which retailers can my brand reach?

Walmart, Liverpool, Sephora, Sanborns, HEB, La Comer, Sears, Farmacias del Ahorro, Promoda, DAX and the proximity channel (Tiendas 3B) — over 5,400 points of sale.
